Mechanism

Etoricoxib selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme responsible for prostaglandin synthesis involved in pain and inflammation. By blocking COX-2, it reduces inflammation and provides analgesic effects while sparing COX-1, thus minimizing gastrointestinal side effects.

  • Absorption: Rapidly absorbed with high oral bioavailability.
  • Distribution: Highly protein bound (~92%).
